rain gauge
The Wind-Resistant Tipping-Bucket Rain Gauge is a hydrological and meteorological instrument designed to measure rainfall in nature. It converts rainfall into digital information output in the form of switching signals to meet the requirements of information transmission, processing, recording, and display. This gauge can be used as a rain sensor for long-term rainfall data collection in hydrological and meteorological station networks.
Equipped with a matching display unit, the wind-resistant tipping-bucket rain gauge enables wired rainfall data transmission, display, and self-recording. It can also be integrated with wireless hydrological automatic measurement and reporting systems, serving as a sensor for remote rainfall monitoring and flood forecasting at dedicated stations. Widely adopted by meteorological stations, hydrological stations, agriculture and forestry sectors, and other relevant monitoring departments, it is used to measure rainfall at specific locations and times. This rain sensor features stable performance, high measurement accuracy, simple operation, and convenient maintenance.
The tipping-bucket rain sensor consists of a water collector, upper bucket, measuring bucket, counting bucket, reed switch, and other components. Its working principle is as follows: Rainwater enters the water collector through the top water inlet, falls into the water-receiving funnel, and flows into the tipping bucket via the funnel outlet. When the accumulated water reaches a certain height (e.g., 0.1 mm), the tipping bucket loses balance and flips. Each flip triggers the switch to connect the circuit, sending a pulse signal to the main controller, which records the corresponding rainfall. This cycle repeats to continuously measure the rainfall process.
The tipping-bucket rain sensor is widely used due to its high degree of automation, timely acquisition of precipitation data, and ease of data storage and transmission. Additionally, it is compatible with digital processing methods, making it particularly suitable for automatic weather stations. The wind-resistant tipping-bucket rain gauge has a rainfall intensity measurement range of no more than 4.0 mm/min and a resolution of 0.1 mm. Key features include strong anti-interference capability, full outdoor design, high measurement accuracy, large storage capacity, easy networking, fully automatic unattended operation, and stable performance.
