IoT + Intelligent Waste Sorting and Recycling System Solution

I. Solution Background

This year, waste sorting has officially entered public view. It has not only become the most concerned topic among ordinary people but also pushed the waste sorting industry to the focus of the market once again. With the continuous introduction of policy documents, it is clearly stated that 46 key cities will basically complete the construction of domestic waste sorting and treatment systems by 2020, and by 2025, all cities at the prefecture-level and above across the country will basically complete the construction of such systems. It can be seen from this that with the further implementation of the waste sorting system, the industry will show a rapid growth trend within 5 to 7 years. The previous waste treatment method of mixed collection and transportation will be changed, and the pre-sorting and disposal links in residential communities/residential areas at the user end will drive explosive market demand.

At present, the models adopted by China's environmental management authorities are relatively traditional. Most waste disposal methods involve fixed vehicles collecting waste at fixed times every day from various locations, with limited access to information about the amount of waste generated in each bin and the status of waste collection operations. Therefore, there is a need for a platform that integrates waste information and facility information collection, transportation vehicle scheduling, and waste sorting and recycling. This platform will enable centralized management and scheduling, rational resource allocation, and optimization of the efficiency of waste collection and disposal. Through the operation of various functional modules of the system, the collection of relevant data and information will be realized, along with real-time monitoring of the status of waste bins and the behavior of residents. This will optimize the management of waste clearance and transportation, thereby achieving networked, intelligent, and information-based waste sorting management in residential areas.

II. System Composition

The intelligent waste sorting system uses the intelligent data acquisition terminal M21F4 to provide wireless network transmission for intelligent waste bins, enabling the networking function between intelligent waste bins and different backend platforms for users. The system mainly consists of three parts: front-end intelligent waste bin acquisition, wireless data transmission equipment, and a backend monitoring platform.

  1. Front-end Data Collection: Intelligent waste bins and front-end collection devices deployed in various locations monitor the status of waste bins in real time, including information such as the height of waste inside the bins.

  2. Wireless Data Transmission: The wireless communication part uses the intelligent collection terminal M21F4 to conduct wireless transmission via 3G/4G/5G signals, transmitting data transparently or in a special protocol format to municipal and county-level monitoring platforms.

  3. Backend Monitoring and Analysis System: After data is transmitted to the platform, real-time data can be viewed and analyzed through a data dashboard or terminal.

III. System Functions

1. 24/7 Real-Time Monitoring

Intelligent waste bins can assist supervision departments in conducting 24/7 real-time monitoring of waste dumping activities.

2. Waste Alarm

The device regularly collects data on the waste capacity inside the bin and processes it internally. When the waste capacity exceeds the set value, it proactively reports to the platform and notifies relevant personnel to handle the waste, ensuring quick and timely response.

3. Temperature Alarm

The device regularly collects the temperature of the waste bin. When the collected temperature exceeds the set value, it proactively reports to the platform and notifies relevant personnel to handle the waste, achieving the goal of fire prevention.

4. Classification Management

It effectively classifies various types of waste. Automatic classification can maximize the recycling of reusable waste and effectively reduce the cost of waste disposal.

5. Heartbeat Function

Users can set the interval for the device to report heartbeat packets (the default is once per hour). The heartbeat packet includes information such as the device's battery voltage and operating status, which can be used to determine whether the device is functioning normally.

IV. System Software Platform
